The family favorite event of the summer is definitely enjoying fireworks on the 4th of July weekend. Atlanta has many choices for the people in the metro and surrounding area.

Here is a complete list of July 4th Celebration in Atlanta and the Fireworks Spectacular for the Independence Day.

Some cities will celebrate on July 3rd so check the listing and call if in doubt. Let me know if I miss your town!

Independence Day Events on July 3rd

Cumming: 4th of July @ Cumming

For residents of Forsyth county, the Independence Day celebration starts on July 3rd and go on till July 4th.

On July 3rd, bring the whole family for a fun evening with food vendors, kids activities and live entertainment. Then end the night with spectacular firework.

On July 4th come and enjoy the famous Steam Engine Parade beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Parade will include steam engines, antique tractors, antique cars and many other floats decorated in the spirit of the holiday. Following the Steam Engine Parade you can take a closer look at the steam engines, tractors and cars at the Fairgrounds. Make sure to bring ear plugs for little ones. Those engines can be loud!

Duluth: Celebrates America 2011 @ Scott Hudgens Park

Duluth celebrates America 2011 will be hosted at Scott Hudgens Park. Gates open at 4 pm. Festivities will include live entertainment, food vendors, activities for the kids, fabulous fireworks display & MORE!

Kennesaw: Summer Concert Series & Fireworks @ The Depot

Enjoy music as part of the City of Kennesaw’s Summer Concert Series – Hotel California with performance by “Destination” at 6pm and follow by firework at 9:30pm

Lawrenceville: Prelude to the 4th @ Gwinnett Historic Courthouse

Enjoy free musical celebration held on the Historic Courthouse lawn. Families can enjoy the outdoor performance and a spectacular finale on the eve of the Fourth of July. People begin arriving around 5:00 p.m. and the show starts at 7:30 p.m., with fireworks after the show / at dark.

Norcross: Independence Day Celebration @ Historic Norcross

For residents of Norcross, the Independence Day celebration starts on July 3rd. Annual family fun begins at 3:30 with a free concert in Lillian Webb Park. Then at 4pm, the festivities kick off with a street fair, pony rides, inflatables and lots more! The live music continues until 9:15, when one of the best firework displays in metro Atlanta will light up the skies over Norcross – bring your blanket and chairs and camp out early! Picnics available from downtown restaurants.

Independence Day Events on July 4th

Atlanta: 4th of July Celebration @ Centennial Olympic Park

Enjoy a full day of fun and entertainment for the entire family, including downtown Atlanta’s best fireworks display. Park gates open at 2 p.m., with activities including face painting, stilt walkers, and more. The free musical entertainment begins at approximately at 4 p.m. throughout the evening until 8:30 p.m.

The finale of the evening is the AirTran Airways Fireworks Spectacular, Atlanta’s best fireworks display synchronized to a special selection of patriotic and popular music.

Tips:

  • Arrive early for the family friendly activities and you might not want to stay till late at night. Kids might be restless and it might be way too late for them.
  • Parking might be limited so look for alternative like MARTA. If you do choose to go with MARTA, definitely plan to leave early and catch the firework at the comfort of your home.

Atlanta: July 4th Celebration @ Six Flags Over Georgia

If you plan to stay a day of fun at Six Flags Over Georgia on the Fourth, then make sure to stay late to catch the firework for July 4th celebration. There is also the STARBURST® Summer Concert Series which will be held in the Southern Star Amphitheater. Purchase Six Flags Over Georgia tickets online to avoid the line is the way to go. They are currently run a special for online ticket with everyone pays kid’s price!

Acworth: Fourth of July Concerts & Fireworks @Cauble Park

Enjoy live music and fireworks at Cauble Park. The entertainments start at 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Fireworks will begin at approximately 9:30 p.m.

Alpharetta: July 4th Fireworks and Festivals @ Wills Park

The July 4th celebration in Alpharetta has something for everyone in the families. Children’s activities will be located on the Event Lawn behind Alpharetta Community Center from 5pm to 8pm. All children’s activities are free of charge! Food vendors will be located throughout the park from 5pm to 10pm.

Buckhead: Legendary 4th of July @ Lenox Square Mall

As the Southeast’s Largest celebration, the Lenox Square has activities for the entire family, including live musical entertainment on the mall’s outdoor main stage, Adidas Independence Day Tent Sale, Taste Of the 4th and Kids Fun Zone. Musical entertainment from A1A and Party on the Moon begins at 6 p.m.

Taste of the 4th event from 2 – 6 p.m. in the Main Stage area. With $10 per ticket, attendees  can sample offerings from five area restaurants: California Pizza Kitchen, Davio’s, Morelli’s, The Palm and Red Brick.

It’s also a last day for the Mega Midways Carnival. For $20 you will get 18 tickets for rides ranging from 2-3 tickets per ride. The carnival will open from 2 p.m. – 11 p.m. on Monday (July 4th)

  • Arrive early to enjoy a carnival fun
  • If you really want to watch firework with kids, try to rent a hotel nearby for the best view and comfort for the whole family

 

Buford: July 4th Celebration @ Lake Lanier Islands

A day of Fire and Water! If you plan to spend a day at Lake Lanier Islands Water park on Fourth of July, don’t forget to plan for late stay to enjoy the firework over the lake.

There are discount for late admission just for firework.

Buford: Fabulous Fourth of July Celebration @ Mall of Georgia

The northern corridor of Atlanta metro area doesn’t have to worry about trekking downtown and fighting with traffic. Mall of Georgia puts out a great celebration with fun, family friendly activities ranging from giant inflatable, kids rides, and Kidgits Fun Run in the morning. Free concerts begin at 2 p.m. in the Village Amphitheatre. Kids Zone opens at 2 p.m. Fireworks begin at dusk. Post-fireworks screening of Little Fockers.

Canton: 4th of July Celebration @ Riverstone

Bring your dog for a fun Dog Day of Summer July 4th celebration at 4pm and stay to watch the fireworks & entertainment at downtown Canton. The fireworks display will be at Riverstone shopping plaza.

Conyers: Fabulour Fourth Festival @ Georgia International Horse Park

Come out early to celebrate the 4th of July festival at Georgia International Horse park. The event starts at 5pm with live entertainment throughout the evening. See more details on schedule of the events here.

Enjoy the large fireworks show at dark.  Arrive early to enjoy all of the festivities and great festival parking.  Blankets and chairs are allowed into the festival.  Coolers, open flames, outdoor grills and pets are prohibited.  Please be patient when exiting the Park upon conclusion of the fireworks.  Some delays are expected due to the large crowd.

Decatur: July 4th Pied Piper Parade

Parade line-up is at the First Baptist Church of Decatur at 5:30 p.m. The parade begins at 6 p.m. It ends at the Community Bandstand on the square with a presentation of colors and the Star Spangled Banner. The concert, featuring the Callanwolde Concert Band, begins at 7 p.m. in the Community Bandstand. Fireworks begin at dark (approximately 9 p.m.) and are shot from the top of the DeKalb County parking deck.

Douglasville: Independence Day Parade & Fireworks @ Downtown East Point

The annual Independence Day Parade starts at 10:00 am on July 4. This year’s theme is “Let Freedom Ring”. You can watch the parade from Church Street and Rose Avenue. Family-friendly activities continue at Hunter Park after the Parade. Events start at 11:00 am and include the annual BBQ with sales going to support Share House, children’s activities, Douglasville Idol Competition, Political Campaign speeches, and Arts and craft vendors.

Independence Day activities will conclude with fireworks show that begins around 8:45 pm. They can be best viewed from Arbor Place Mall and Walmart parking lots.

East Point: July 4th Hometown Celebration @ Downtown East Point

The celebration is always on the 4th of July. It is held across from the East Point MARTA station & East Point City Hall.

This fun filled event features activities for the whole family, including a professional Carnival complete with carousel, Ferris wheel, rides, games and more, Watermelon Eating Contest, a select merchandise vendor market, musical performances throughout the evening, a fabulous food court including Italian ice, funnel cakes, smoked and grilled meats, fried fish, beer and tropical drinks and more, and of course, the evening’s highlight at 9:30pm… South Fulton County’s largest Pryo Digital Fireworks display synchronized to a musical score!

Marietta: Fourth of July Celebration @ Marietta Square

The city of Marietta’s Fourth in the Park celebration begins at 10 a.m. and includes the Marietta Freedom parade, free live concerts, museum tours, arts and crafts show, food, carnival games and fireworks finale.

Roswell: July 4th Extravaganza @ Roswell High School

Show your patriotism by celebrating our Country’s Independence Day in Roswell with entertainment and a breathtaking fireworks display. This year’s July 4th Fireworks Extravaganza will take place at Roswell High School located on King Road off of SR 92. Entertainment begins at 6 p.m. Children carnival and inflatable activities will be available at a nominal fee.

Stone Mountain: Fantastic Fourth Celebration @ Stone Mountain Park

There will firework and laser shows from July 2nd to July 4th. The parking fee is $10 per vehicle. If you only plan to enjoy the firework, then you just have to pay for the parking but there will be no re-entry during that time. If you have an annual pass to Stone Mountain, it will be a great fun for the whole family with kids to enjoy the attraction before the firework.

Park attractions will open at 10 am on July 2nd, 3rd and 4th and the Lasershow Spectacular in Mountainvision, will start at 9:30pm. Be aware that on July 4th the Park may close the gates early once parking capacity is reached. Please also note, that for safety reasons, no pedestrian traffic will be allowed to enter the Park through the main entrance on Highway 78.

Tips:
– On July 4, please note that only the East and West gates will be open and that only vehicle traffic will be allowed through the East Gate (which is the main gate entrance off of Hwy. 78). Please be aware that the Park may close gates to traffic once parking capacity is reached.

Woodstock: July 4th Freedom Fest @ Downtown City Park

Don’t miss Woodstock July 4th event start of with parade through downtown which starts at 10am on Main St./Rope Mill Rd. between Hwy 92 & Woodstock Elementary. Follow by festival in downtown city park which includes food, arts & crafts, magician, juggler, kids activities & music!
