Spring Break from Atlanta: Great Wolf Lodge, Concord, NC

Today, I have our first guest post from Jessica Jones of Atlanta Mother’s Guide. She recently was invited to spent a weekend at the Great Wolf Lodge in Concord, NC. She will share with us Ten Reasons YOU (and your kids) will LOVE the Great Wolf Lodge

My husband and I live with our 3 kids (ages 6,4, and 2) in Atlanta, Georgia and are always looking for new and exciting things to do nearby! I write about our adventures on my blog but am excited to be here at Atlanta with Kids to share this AWESOME resort in our own backyard!

10. Distance:

The Great Wolf Lodge in Concord, NC is the PERFECT distance from Atlanta. With just a little over 4 hours, our drive to (and from) Concord was a breeze!

9. The Staff:

I cannot say enough great things about the staff. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. We did not encounter a single bad attitude the entire time we were there. They all went above and beyond to make our stay fun!

8. The Lifeguards:

The lifeguards at The Great Wolf Lodge are one of a kind! There are plenty of them and they are all doing their job. These lifeguards are constantly moving and NEVER sitting. They are probably the only employees there that don’t engage in conversation because they are too busy protecting your kids.

7. The Rooms:

There are no “rooms” at the Great Wolf Lodge only suites. We stayed in one of the basic family suites and it was hands down the largest hotel room I have ever stayed in! With kids ANY room can seem cramped but the kids had plenty of room to move. There were 2 queen sized beds AND a fold out couch so everyone slept comfortably! The room also had a fridge, microwave, and additional sink (outside of the bathroom) which made eating in the room a breeze.

6. Other Local Attractions:

Since the Great Wolf Lodge is located near Charlotte there are plenty of things to do in the area. Matter
of fact right down the road is Carowinds amusement park and the drag race track. Not to mention there are plenty of restaurants as well.

5. The Price:

Now when you first look at the price of a room at The Great Wolf Lodge you may think that it’s a little pricey…but the hotel price also includes the full access to Waterpark which you can start using as early as 1pm on the check-in day and as late as 9pm on the check-out day, kid-friendly activities like story time, the duck race and many more.

4. The Food:

Now I will be honest. We have 3 younger kids so we brought most of our own food. However the Great Wolf Lodge
does have 2 on-site restaurants. The kid-size buffet is a nice touch for this family-friendly attraction.

3. Kids Programs:

There are various programs available throughout the day from wolf walk, story time, face painting, crafts and magic show. For family travel with teen, there is also a teen area complete with video games, computers, and music. If that’s not enough, there are also special activities that cost extra fee like the jr. lifeguard program, Scoops kids spa, the arcade, and MagiQuest; a one-of-a-kind, live-action adventure game!

2. The Water Park:

The water park is the BEST! Kids are measured and given a colored wrist band so they know which rides they can and can’t ride when you enter. There is a great toddler pool complete with ride on jet skis, 3 slides, and of course a dumping water tower! The tree house is fun for everyone! The play pool is a little deeper (4 feet) and has a ropes course where the older kids can try to make it across the pool. Then there are the slides! My son is 6 and he could ride any of the slides either by himself or with his dad. Even my 4 yr old daughter rode most everything! Another thing I loved about the water park was the fact that there were plenty of chairs and tables.

1. Kid’s Rule:

In my opinion the BEST thing about the Great Wolf Lodge is that it is a family resort. EVERYONE there has kids so everyone understands when your kid has a meltdown. The entire resort is made with kids in mind and your kid’s safety is their first priority!
