Atlanta: 2012 Atlanta Jazz Festival Memorial Day Weekend @ Piedmont Park

The Atlanta Jazz Festival is regarded as one of the Country’s largest FREE jazz festivals.  It is an annual musical showcase, celebrates jazz legends and up-and-coming jazz greats in venues throughout metropolitan Atlanta during the entire month of May.   Culminating during each Memorial Day weekend, the festival features show-stopping performances at Piedmont Park.

There are several activities that are designed for children 10 and under; there are face painters and balloon art next to the playground near the international stage. The Festival is produced by the City of Atlanta Office of Cultural Affairs, and it is FREE and open to the public.

Atlanta: 5th Annual Blues, Brews, and BBQ Festival @ Park Tavern

Memorial Day weekend is synonymous with lots of beer, music, and barbecue. The is no better place to find that than the fifth annual Blues, Brews, and BBQ Festival at Park Tavern.

Atlanta: Veteran Remembrance Day @ Atlanta History Center

Spend a day in the company of veterans and hear their stories of wartime through personal accounts and memorabilia.  Living history interpreters represent soldiers of previous wars, including World War I and the Civil War, by showing authentic dress, equipment, and vehicles.

This program is free to members; included in the cost of general admission for nonmembers.

Dacula: 2012 Memorial Day @ Dacula

Celebrate 2012 Memorial Day in Dacula with parade, 5K run and Arts, Crafts and Music festival.

The parade begins at Hebron Baptist Church and proceeds down Dacula Road, turns right on Second Ave, crosses Broad Street and ends at Dacula High School.  Families begin to line Dacula Road and Second Avenue long before the parade begins.  There are 8,000 – 10,000 parade watchers lining the parade route as the parade steps off at 10:00 AM.

Decatur: 2012 Decatur Arts Festival @ Downtown Decatur

Roswell: Roswell Memorial Day Ceremony

The Largest Memorial Day Ceremony in Georgia – In 1997, twelve patriotic individuals came together to create a truly unique Memorial Day event; a non-political, non-commercial ceremony honoring veterans and the sacrifices they made in protecting our freedom.

That first ceremony attracted approximately 1,800 individuals. From that humble beginning, came the Roswell Memorial Day Ceremony, an event which attracts approximately 6,000-7,000 people from throughout Georgia and the southeast.

Smyrna: Memorial Day Ceremony @ 20th Century Veterans Memorial

Join the City of Smyrna for Memorial Day at 20th Century Veterans Memorial on May 28, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. The Smyrna ceremony is organized by members of the community and it is those members of the community who officiate. Join us on this day to honor and appreciate our commitment to peace through strength and sacrifice.

Seating will start after 8:00 a.m. and pre-ceremony/ceremony activities will begin promptly at 9:30 a.m.  In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held in the Smyrna Community Center (200 Village Green Circle, Smyrna, 30080).

The ceremony is sponsored and coordinated by the Smyrna Veterans Committee, an organization composed of the City of Smyrna, The Veterans Memorial Association of Smyrna, and American Legion Post 160. The ceremony is a public event and all are invited to attend and participate in this memorial service to honor those who have sacrificed in defense of our nation.

Stone Mountain: Memorial Day Weekend 2012 @ Stone Mountain

Stone Mountain park honors our troops and their families, in a three-day celebration of American spirit at Atlanta’s largest Memorial Day Weekend celebration.

Salute our troops during the Lasershow Spectacular in Mountainvision with a special, extended fireworks finale all three nights. Marvel as the skies above light up in a specially choreographed musical tribute honoring the brave men and women who protect our country. The special fireworks display can be seen Saturday, Sunday and Monday of Memorial Weekend.
