Recently we have a chance to visit the newly opened LEGOLAND Discovery Center Atlanta in Buckhead. For my families and friends, they probably know that my son is a HUGE fan of LEGO. We have been to both LEGOLAND California and LEGOLAND Florida. So it’s very exciting to have another (although different) LEGOLAND in our own hometown.
LEGOLAND Discovery Center Atlanta
The LEGOLAND Discovery Center is a bit different than LEGOLAND theme parks in California and Florida. I will deem it as an indoor family entertainment center for LEGO lovers of all ages. The center is located in Phipps Plaza in Buckhead which makes it’s very convenient for families in Atlanta.
With over 30,000 square-foot of interactive space, the center is a great place for a fun family entertainment where kids (and adults) will be able to enjoy learning and playing indoor.
LEGO Factory Tour – See How LEGOs are Made
As we walked in, we were greeted by the LEGO Master Build who show us how the LEGO is built. It was a great way to learn and peek inside how this little brick becomes one of the most popular toy in the planet. Don’t miss out the chance to weight yourself to see how many bricks do you weight!
Kingdom Quest – Fun Interactive Ride
Next stop is the Kingdom Quest. An interactive laser game similar to Lost Kingdom Adventure ride in LEGOLAND Florida. This fun and interactive game and ride is sure to be a big hit for the whole family. We visited during the media day so the wait wasn’t long. With the timed ticket, I would expect that they will try to control the amount of people who enter the center to minimize the wait.
Miniland – Awesome Atlanta’s Landmarks
Once we got off from the Kingdom Quest ride, we walked through Miniland. This is my favorite spot in the center. It was fun to check out different Atlanta’s landmarks from the Varsity, Turner Field, Fox Theatre, Stone Mountain and many more. Make sure to stay long enough so you can catch both day time and night time.
Merlin’s Apprentice
The other ride in LEGOLAND Discovery Center apart from Kingdom Quest is Merline’s Apprentice. It was not your typical sit down and enjoy kind of ride. You will have to work out your legs. The faster you peddle, the higher you go up!
LEGO Racers: Build & Test
This is where my kids spent the most time and I think they could spend the whole day just build their cars and test it along 3 different tracks. This station allows kids to build their own car and race them down the race track.
Earthquake Table – Fun for Dads (& Kids)
More dads are in this area than any other parts in the center as they tried to see if their building will stand the Earthquake test on this table. It’s definitely a challenge to build a tall building that doesn’t crumble after the table shake.
LEGO 4D Cinema
We also enjoyed watching the LEGO 4D movie. The production is amazing and fun for the whole family. Kids were laughing and screaming with joy during the movie. And don’t worry.. there is no seat that you will stay dry!
The visit for most family will take about 2 hours to enjoy everything LEGOLAND Discovery Center Atlanta has to offer. However, it all depends on your family because we were there for 3 hours and didn’t want to leave.
