Calling all bookworms young or old, it’s time to check out the 2009 AJC Decatur Book Festival this Labor Day weekend.
I’m so excited to see a list of several of my favorite authors like Diana Gabaldon (The Outlander Series), Ally Carter (The Gallagher Girl Series) or Charlaine Harris (The Sookie Stackhouse -AKA True Bloods Series). It’s not just the book festival for adult readers but for children as well. There are a long list of children book authors that will be there. I think it’s a great way to introduce young children to reading.
It will probably be a long post if I spill out everything that will happen during the festival. Just go there to check out more info on schedule and activities. It will be a Bookzilla size festival so I’m sure there will be something for everyone. Here is some of the example activities that you will enjoy.
- A children’s stage featuring interactive activities and presentations by top authors and illustrators
- Live music performed by nationally touring musicians
- Cooking demonstrations by noted cookbook authors
- Food and beer vendors, and a wine garden
- An opening day Children’s Parade
- A Youth Poetry Slam, for kids 12-18 years old
- A Poetry Slam for adults
