Earth Day is celebrating the 42th Anniversary and this year there are plenty of Earth Day events around Atlanta for kids.

Earth Day Kids Fest 2012 @ Chattahoochee Nature Center

The Captain Planet Foundation is teaming up again with the Chattahoochee Nature Center for the 9th Annual Earth Day Kids Fest! This event is a unique and exciting hands-on, environmental education experience where youth are encouraged to take the first steps in becoming environmental stewards. Through engaging activities and performances, kids are energized with empowering information, allowing them to lead the way in preserving and protecting our biological diversity and natural resources.

SweetWater 420 Fest @ Candler Park

Enjoy great live music, activities, food, and education about how each and every one of us can be a part of the solution! Kid Zone features Circus Camp, Moon bounce, Earth Art project, Captain Planet cartoon and many more. Free admission for great live music, activities, food, and education about how each and every one of us can be a part of the solution! Festival goers who are 21+ and with a valid ID can purchase a $5 wristband to responsibly enjoy beer. Portion of Proceeds from wristband sales are donated to Park Pride (to benefit Candler Park).

Earth Day @ Elachee Nature Science Center

Celebrate our planet and its wonders with outdoor exploration, activities, demonstrations, and lots of fun! Participate in guided hikes, recycled crafts and learning about our natural world through live animal and nature discovery programs, and a special orienteering program.

Decatur Earth Day Festival @ Oakhurst Community Garden

The celebration will kick off with a parade that will go from Harmony Park to the Community Garden site, beginning at 12:30 pm.  There are plenty of events planned for children, youth and adults including: Kids Crafts, Music performances, A Live Raptor Show! and Special Earth Day T-shirt contest.

Earth Day Celebration @ Georgia Tech

Celebrate Earth Day with Georgia Tech. One of the largest Earth Day celebration in the Southeast. The event features 70 exhibitors, eco-friendly giveaways, recycling opportunities, a clothing swap, an office supply exchange, live music, and organic popcorn.

Party for the Planet @ Zoo Atlanta
Join Zoo Atlanta as we celebrate and party for our Earth with fun family activities, crafts and special exhibits. Kids can make their own fossils, go on an Earthworm dig, party with the Wild Thing and check out various green exhibitors.
